Lifelock pairs with Norton to ensure digital security. Users sign up to the Lifelock service and install the software. Lifelock then monitors your identity and sends alerts by email, phone, or text. If someone tries to steal your identity, Lifelock lets you know about it right away. The service then helps you resolve the problem and reimburses any money that is stolen, up to the limit defined by your plan. Lifelock can detect online loan applications made in your name, along with credit file activity and your information occuring on the dark web.

At the time of writing, Lifelock reviews on Trustpilot have been mostly positive. Ninety-two percent of users rated the service excellent or great, although another eight percent said it was bad. Reviewers liked the way that alerts kept them up to date with the state of their personal data security. They also said that they were able to speak to knowledgable employees when they contacted Lifelock by phone. However, a small number of reviewers claimed that Lifelock did not follow through on the introductory offers they advertised, which left them feeling unsatisfied.

The Lifelock service can be very useful if your personal information is affected by a data breach. Thieves who steal your identity can use it to open accounts in your name, drain your accounts, commit credit fraud, or even sell your information on to other criminals. You could feel the effects of an identity theft years after the initial data theft, as criminals attempt to use your data to purcahse property or file fraudulent tax returns. Signing up to Lifelock may allow you to take back some control over your data after a data breach.
